Langkawi adventures

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

― Eleanor Roosevelt

Cheapest duty free in the world for sure.

What is duty free in the first place? it is an opportunity to grab fantastic merchandise at bargain prices where the international traveler will save lot of money on deals like dazzling high-end jewellery to premium liquor, Tobacco ,chocolates and etc etc. One might ask me why am i trying to promote a duty free in a blog? There is a reason. Most of us travel to have fun but the same time if you think when ever you get a chance to shop and why not make the most out of it Specially in Langkawi. I was astonished by the liquor prices and my mind was running here and there not knowing what to choose. Everything comes with a catch or a hidden price but in Langkawi you only get to purchase one Lt of liquor per person and that really shuts the door. For an example, I bought myself a bottle of Smirnoff which cost me only RM25 where i would pay RM52 in the air port duty free.

So next time when you decide to pay a visit to this gorgeous island just save some extra money so you can shop for the whole year and trust me the deals that you can bargain are simply too good to be true. With this i thought of uploading some pictures for you to enjoy.

Stargazing in langkawi

Stargazing in Langkawi Island
“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”
― Marcus AureliusMeditations

The people who i met in this journey simply made me realize how friendly and caring they are.

Our holiday was something different than the usual island hopping, sea bathing, boat riding and the rest . My wife and I thought of exploring Langkawi by driving around the whole island and getting to know the places that everyday traveler might miss and so we did. We rented a car for three days and when we reached the jetty the car was already there and there was no hassle in running around trying to argue and look for cheap rentals or hires. From there we straight went to our homestay which i would say was one of the simple and best places that i have stayed  along with my budget. I will upload the pictures of the whole journey so that it will make some scenes for you to figure out what happened in this journey.

While we were driving around i thought of visiting the famous Makam Mahsuri and take some pictures .On our way back through jalan makam mahsuri, my wife saw this Restaurant which was facing the paddy fields with some antique decor that says "Nasi Dagang Pak Malau"  so we stopped (since she is a true die-hard fan of Nasi Dagang) to quench our thirst and hunger.

The first thing that i noticed was the big telescope which was pointed towards the sky and my mind started questioning is it real? LOL the last thing i expected in this life form was to bump in to a stargazing telescope in a  paddy field which is almost out of civilization and full of tranquility. Add to all that, this little heaven of a place has a breeze that makes you wonder can mother nature be this good? anything else? yes A monkey who is surrounded by dwarf looking chickens who i later found out that was high in value .So my next question was can i see the night sky with the lay out of the stars with this ? yes was the answer and i thought to myself this is going to be one journey that i will take to my grave.

The gentleman who is responsible to share his astronomical views is a city boy who has left everything behind and living the life of simplicity and happiness. We both shared one thing in common -  Knowledge will be knowledge no matter what theory it is. He invited us over to explore the stars and learn the basics of stargazing which you will not find every where every day. Pak Malau, thank you for making my trip to Langkawi an extraordinary adventure which was full of knowledge about the universe and  topping it with some delicious food .

So my friends if you want to stargaze in Langkawi next time just send me a mail and i will gladly help you with tips that will save your time and money .

Taman Tasik Titiwangsa - A hidden sanctuary

If you are standing in the middle of KLCC tired of walking around (or tired of going from one shop to another) just looking for a place to relax but too tired to leave the city How about a garden with a lake? Where would you find such a place in a very noisy and busy environment like KL?

Then set the course towards the lake of Titiwangsa Water, flowers, trees and birds… birds mean REAL birds :) just make your stress fly away.

I will make it short before you get bored he he he No need of a compass it’s a famous landmark in KL yet it is still a hidden sanctuary Just hop into the taxi it takes you only 12 minutes or about 6.4km from KLCC.

If you travel alone just grab yourself a can of beer (make it two if you want) and a camera. Those travel with family and love ones this is a perfect place for picnic. This place brings harmony not only to you but it’s a place that brings happiness to the whole family.

A weekend will never be the same when you spend it at Titiwangsa. It’s filled with activities that cost you not more than 3 Ringgit Malaysia.

There are two entrances to Titiwangsa I always prefer to enter through the junction in front of Istana Budaya (merely translate as “cultural palace”), you can’t miss this because Istana Budaya is big with awesome architecture, that simply resembles a typical Malay house.

Let me take you to the picture-perfect and breathtaking Taman Tasik Titiwangsa....
